New IMIsound Artist: Mordana

The name Mordana comes from the idea of “biting life and tasting every shade and hue, living in purity every simple emotion, metabolizing and transforming into music to share with those who listen.”
Mordana was formed in 2002 in Carpineto Romano in the province of Rome. Andrea Campagna, Matteo Centi and Luca Cappuccio, the original nucleus, were joined by the drummer Giuseppe Cacciotti in 2003 and by the present drummer Corrado Di Rolfi in 2005. In Januray 2003 the group went into the recording studios for the first time and in June of the same year produced their first five-track demo CD: “Piramidale”. During 2003 and 2004, the group produced 18 original tracks and a second six-track demo CD, “2° Città”, which was reviewed by Rocksound. In 2005/2006 the group dedicated its energy almost entirely to to live concerts and took part, together with the “FIUB”, in the Jestrairock event in Rome, organised by the Bergamo independent label Jestrai. In June their track “UoMotel” was played by Demo on Radio Rai and finished among the top ten on the basis of a web vote. In 2007 Mordana contributed to the soundtrack of the TV series “Backpackers” produced by Channel V and transmitted in Australia, Canada and Malaysia. In April the group played live once again, together with the “Disfunzione”, at the Jestrairock event at Carpineto Romano. In September they won the “Suono Anch’io Music Contest” and performed at the Estragon in Bologna on the occasion of the “Festa Nazionale dell’Unità”. At the end of 2007 the group went back into the recording studios to produce their third six-track demo CD: “L’ultimo dei primi passi”, presented live by the Rome based “Radio Città Futura” on the 8th January 2008. Other radio stations that have played Mordana are: Radio Rock, Radio Meridiano 12, Radio Reporter 97 (To), Punto Radio Cascina (Pi), Nova Radio Città Futura (Fi), Radio Bari Città Futura, Radio Più Catania, Radio Press di Cagliari, Radio Sapienza a Roma, Fuso Radio, Radio 192 e Radio Galileo di Terni. In March 2008 Mordana opened the “Casasonica After Show Party” at the Init in Rome together with Petrol and the DJ set of Subsonica. In April they took part in a special live event in Valmontone with Luca Barbarossa, Eugenio Finardi, Silvia Salemi and Neri Marcorè. The group also received an important review in the June/July edition of the magazine Rocksound. In April 2008 they also produced their first videoclip “For One Night”.
