Its a funny thing life, through our trials and tribulations we sometimes wonder what its all about. I bet every single solitary individual on this planet will join me in saying “What does it all mean”? Just when you think that life cannot get any better, or worse, something comes along that just puts everything back into focus again.

What I sometimes find annoying about the music scene today are those that cannot move forward. You know, those that can make really decent music but never explore and push back the sonic boundaries. I call them Dinosaurs. Very unlike the artist that I want to put under the spot light today. Hit link below to visit Wired_Ascention…

Mike Fink (remember this name) from Pennsylvania US is the man behind  Wired_Ascention. The project was formed in 2001. Though Mikes experience spans way back into the mid 70’s when he experimented with early Modular Analog Synthesis such as the Moog and ARP Synthesizers. Is there any wonder that his experience and talents shine through in his work today? No of course not, experience and talent are things that cannot be bought or sold.

There are so many top class tracks in Mikes repertoire to focus on, so I will take the opening words of this review as a basis to work from.

Circle of life  Click to hear the track

BY Wired_Ascention

This track opens, seemingly rising out of the ether like the sunrise of a glorious morning. As the track develops it pushes its mighty and yet gentle persuasion upon you, and you sense that there is wonder in the music you are hearing. The rythm is exquist, it not only flows with a buoyant fluidity but it compliments the all the other beautiful sounds that surrounds it. Who would have thought that a lead guitar with distortion would work in an Ambient track? But there it is in its full glory. I just love how Mike has the interplay between the Guitar and Piano so perfect. What is really great about this track is its focus. Everything seems slightly fuzzy or blurred, like a viel of mist. You get the feeling that there is something quite tangible about this track that you can almost touch. Just like the illusive meaning of life realisations we sometimes get, that quickly evaporates soon after it entered your thoughts.

This track really needs to played loud to hear the incidentals. Nuances like these are very reflective upon the producer. When you can get fills, drop-ins and one off riffs to fit into a mellody and the body of the track without sounding out of place you really have got something. This something is “vision”, vision to see what you are creating and the vision to see the effect on others your creation has. The effect on me for one is mind blowing, and I hope you feel magesty of Mikes music also.

But,

If Circle of life was too fluffy for you, hit the link below to hear the agressive side of Wired_Ascention

Mike himself says that he is a left over from the hippy/rock Era his music certainly does have echoes of these influences. Yet Mike has embraced the modern Electronic culture with absolute understanding. This is one of the reasons why Wired_Ascention is so unique. Its a fusion of Rock, Ambience and Electro that shouldn’t really work, but it does and very well indeed.

Music of this quality is a rarety and should be savoured. Mike’s music communicates on all levels, and it speaks volumes about him himself. Thus, I feel and everyone who listens will know or get to know Mike very well through his music.

World Class Electronica…

Very Highly recommended.
