For Roberto Magni it was an instinctive choice to move within the area of instrumental progressive rock regardless of fashion and the various attempts at reviving the genere. From the day he first strummed a guitar and later tickled the ivories, the hunt for hidden harmonies, odd times and complex rhythms, especially within the same composition, has always come very naturally to him, like listening to and learning from every musical genre. The track “L’ultimo volo di Alcyone” (The last flight of Alcyone), in its short three minutes, represents very clearly his way of creating music. Rhythmic interlocking and sofisticated harmonies that never lose sight however of the melody that bonds the various movements that alternate throughout the composition. Harmonising guitars and analogical synths chase each other in an invention of recurring themes. But also tracks with an apparantly simpler structure like “Kraken” with its refined harmony, where the solo guitar dominates in highly melodic style, are a part of Roberto’s way of composing and interpreting music.
