Hey all and welcome to another superb Atom Sounds interview, this weeks interview is with Titee:

Question 1: What’s the name of your band? What’s the origin of that name? Have you changed the band’s name before?
The name is Titee. It use to be Tt but someone on lastfm was already using that so I wanted the name to sound the same so I worked out the name Titee. It’s a little saucy.

Question 2: Please list the name and respective instrument of each band member.
Titee is a soloist and he uses exclusively a computer called Max. Max is a five year old PC.

Question 3: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
The genre is Elektrough.

Question 4: How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
I have known Titee for 5 years. Before this he didn’t even exist.

Question 5: When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
Max the computer inspired me to make music.

Question 6: Are you signed to a record label? Are you a member of any music organizations?
Yes I am part of the Pixilicious label, however I also have other interests such as jamendo and ning sites.

Question 7: What can you tell us about your instruments? (i.e., Are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play with whatever’s available? What made you choose the instruments you have now? Was it cost or was it a style/model/brand/colour preference?
I use the following software, FL studio, Ableton, Soundforge and a USB mic.
I also use samples off a video camera. I do collaberations as well. I do play guitar and some of it’s sounds feature on some of my tunes.

Question 8: Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
I have never done a live gig. I have been played by net Dj’s though.

Question 9: Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers? Do you have a set play list?
I suppose my favourite track is the one I am making at the moment. But I am not making one right now but I have a few ideas. I daren’t mention what they are because if I talk about them I never do them. I have over 100 tracks.

Question 10: Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? Do you think these topics will change over time?
I do all the music. It’s a mood thing and when I complete a song I don’t really know how I did it. I like to make a song that makes me tap my foot. I am influenced by the artists I listen to on the net and I think my tunes are becoming a little more refined. I can’t stand taking to long to make a tune. it drives me crazy, so I never super refine a tune, I just think by the time I refine that tune, I could have made a new track. I often try to follow a genre but the tune that comes out, often doesn’t reflect that genre. eg. I will try to do a drum and bass track but it turns out to be something else. I also don’t mind if I think the tune sounds a little crappy because I know that tastes vary in the ears of music appreciaters so what sounds bad to me may sound great to someone else.

Question 11: Could you briefly describe the music-making process?
Yes. It’s done as quickly as possible. I like to spend about 2 to 4 hours on it and the release it., However I do run it by a fellow electric artist who will tell me if they like it. If they do like it , I will release it, if not I will rework it for a couple of hours and it usually sounds heaps better.

Question 12: What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
I never rehearse. I have no set time to make another track. If I have not made a track for 3 to 4 weeks I feel that my music making is over and I will never do it again. Then I find myself at Max, pumping out another world famous beat.

Question 13: How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
I guess It just gets a little more technical and I am better at adding effects these days. I also use more than one program to make the tracks.

Question 14: What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
The biggest challenge is to keep going. I do not take my music seriously and see it as a hobby. This way I can be innocent of expectation and grow to my full potential without the hinderance of seriousness and egomania.

Question 15: What’s your ultimate direction for your band? Are you seeking fame and fortune?
I am seeking fame and fortune, but I already have a global audience. Its great to know that perhaps every day, someone, somewhere in the world is listening to a Titee track. This is more than I ever expected.

Question 16: What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Do it now. Bands are hard to keep together. Get a good repitior together and sing it to the world.

Question 17: How can fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
Look up Titee on a search engine and you will find plenty of tracks. If it is not for free down load then write to me and I will make it available to you.

Question 18: Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?
Pixieguts, the crew at Neon Beats, Jamendo, Last FM, Ning sites and to all those who take the time to listen to music. ie music of any genre!!!!!

Question 19: Any last words?
Yes I would like to say this that life treats me very well and to be able to make music is better than anything that could ever come of it, however if you have a spare million, give it to me and I will be thankful.
