Amazon UK have launched their MP3 site, we’ve just been over to check it out and it’s fast and cheaper than iTunes!
When you first use the UK version you will have to download a small downloader that will download your purchased albums/tracks to your computer the software then automatically adds them to your iTunes or Windows Media Player so they are ready for to play straight away.
We tested the system on the Remergence Single Probably and it worked a treat, it downloaded straight away, went into iTunes and there it was, so if you are in the UK and have been waiting ages for Amazon to bring over the MP3 downloading site from the US then nows your chance to get some tasty tracks at great prices.

Hi Karen,
Great to see this from Amazon. About time some of the retailers brought the Mp3 format to their “digital shelves” so to speak. With Cd’s dying the death, I’m surprised Zaavi and others haven’t jumped on the bandwagon.

I’m big fan of Amazon’s mp3s! I didnt realize that it was only offered in select areas. I wonder why it took so long for the UK to adopt it…
@MsOd: Hi MsOD, great to see you here, yes it is a shame that it has taken so long for Amazon to actually hits the UK with MP3 downloads, I think it took them so long due to legal requirements outside the US
@Paul Ireland: I think given time virtually every store will be offering MP3 downloads and in time you’ll probably find new audio formats coming out with a higher quality sound with a better compression.
