Ok it’s few days late, but what can I say the weather here in the UK has been amazing and we’ve been listening to some amazing music over the last month, but here it is anyway, this months recommended album.

This months album is by Guy Michetti and is title Headin’ for the Crossroads.

Guy Michetti is a songwriter in the best traditions of American Blues, Folk and Rock and Roll.

Guy Michett’s first Full Length CD “Headin’ For The Crossroads” is a collection of hard rocking, blues inspired, and folk songs that are all wrapped up in a singer/songwriter package. Headin’ For The Crossroads shows the heart of a songwriter deeply rooted in his love for the best of American musical traditions! This is music you have to hear. Destined to be an American Classic.

Born in Treviso (Italy) in March ‘69, Max, at the age of six, began piano studies attending private lessons and in 1980 entered the “B. Marcello” conservatory in Venice. A long-time computer and technology enthusiast, he soon showed his preference for the study of the synthesizer rather than the study of classical exercises, inevitably abandoning, after one year, his academic activity in order to dedicate himself totally to electronic music…

The name “Kromofonica” is the brainchild of Leonardo Montaruli, artist, singer, founder and leader of “Voyeur” – a 90s independent group from Genova – who was killed by a melanoma at the age of 27. The group’s first album, currently in production, is dedicated to his memory. “Kromofonica” is an alternative musical project founded on 1st January 2008 and made up of the following members:
Vincenzo Geraci – singer/songwriter, guitar and bass
Edilio Ciuffardi – bass, arrangements, writer and photographer.
Musical influences come from every musical direction so it is impossible to foresee the sound of future productions.

Msk, also known as Antonino Musco, is a sicilian multi-instrumentalist who has masterminded a number of interesting projects and soundtracks and is involved in many musical bands such as the Sicilian AV project. As a soloist he plays mostly electro-jazz with various influences, Mediterranean and other. But even as a soloist, as in this new album “am I scared?”, he manages to involve musicians not just from Italy but from all over the world. “Am I scared?” is an extremely varied album, as diverse as the author’s reference points: from the Japanese hentai Ogenki Clinic to the french poet Jacques Brel; from electronic music to jazz masters like John Coltrane and classics such as Battisti and The Beatles. It is in fact a Beatles song that stands out on a first listening: the audacious and beautifuly executed cover of Eleanor Rigby with the enchanting voice of Claudia Pintaldi (also in Battisti’s “Prendila Così”). Sometimes the album slides down more electronic paths, as with the track “Blues for Lidka”, that brings to mind the Boards of Canada, or “Les femmes”, an interesting jazz-house track with a tribute to the Truffaut movie “The man who loved women”. Women. In effect, female vocals are decidedly the strongest point in this album. For example in “Boire tes Baiser”, an unexpected chanson francaise, or “Insomnia”, an ethereal track that on a first listening would appear to be composed by a theremin when in fact it is the voice of the young Sicilian singer Shirin Demma. Taking into consideration the quality and variety of the album, and obviously the fact that that it’s a free download, “am i scared?” is highly recommended for all lovers of borderless contaminated electronica.

David Pendragon is an acoustic folk rock performer who also dabbles in electronic music,most of his songs are meaningful pieces observing the world around us.He is an accomplished engineer and producer with a Pro Tools studio based in Canberra Australia. David has several albums to his credit, including ‘The Gathering’ with his band ‘Tribe’ Mainly influenced by acoustic performers with a rock edge, Davids style creates an easy listening experiance that crosses a number of genre.He is best known for the song ‘Spiral Dance’ a big hit with the Pagen-Folk community. David is currently involved in an internet colaboration with a number of other artists producing an album entirely composed and performed over the net!

David Pendragon has been performing for over 30yrs. David has released 4 albums,an eclectic pot-por-ei of sounds and genre.In the 70s/80s David toured Australia supporting international and local acts.He was a great favouite at Festivals. He now only tours occasionaly having discovered that the internet is a way to reach out to an audience world wide.

Born in Azores, Mario Raposo is an eclectic and a self-taught musician. His taste and influences encompass Jazz, Classic music, New age, Electronic and film score composers. For the past fifteen years, Mario has been creating music on his keyboards for film scores, commercial documentaries, advertisements, TV generics and CDs for local artists. A true product of his times, Mario does not hesitate in injecting into traditional forms a more modern language. He has experimented mostly with fusion, i.e.: jazz; traditional Portuguese and new age (especially on documentaries); electronic pop, dance; and orchestrations through the use of synthesisers.
